Augusta Locally Grown has been granted a one-year residency in 2019 at theClubhou.se Academy location. ALG will mindfully use the opportunity to showcase Augusta’s local food system for a solid 12 months of experiences and community engagement. They’re calling it “NOURISHMENT19.”  The year will culminate with the creation of a “Good Food Euphorium” that we imagine and create with the larger community.  The clock starts now!

During the months of January-August, Nourishment19 will include a full schedule of local food activities. For the first quarter of the year, these include:

AUGUSTA LOCALLY GROWN ONLINE FARMERS MARKET
Tuesdays, 1pm-7pm
There is no better way to access the freshest, cleanest food grown in the CSRA than buying directly from farmers through this online market, now in its 11th year. Coordinated by Market Manager Cassidy Usry.

COMMUNITY GARDENING AT THE CLUBHOU.SE
Tuesdays, 9am-10am
Participants are invited to share in the work, the learning and the harvest of
this SNAP ED approved community garden, year round. Led by Kim Hines.

MEET & EAT – CREATING A GOOD FOOD EUPHORIUM
Wednesdays, 12-1:30pm
This weekly lunchtime gathering will bring together committee members and collaborators who will visualize and design the Good Food Euphorium. We’ll share soup and salad right from the garden as we work to create this one-of-a-kind exhibit. Led by our Nourishment19 intern.

GROWLER GARDENING
Usually on the last Fridays of each month, 5pm-7pm
It’s simple. You bring the muscle; we bring the local beer. During 2019, we’ll add some extra flavors to the mix!
January 25 – Growler Gardening & Tamale Making with Chef Dave
February 22 – Building a Blackberry Bramble
March 22 – Hoping to Grow Hops!
April 26 – TBA

GROWN YOUR OWN WORKSHOPS
Thursdays, 5:30pm-7pm in March & April
March 7 – Shitake Mushroom Logs
March 14 – Cheese Making
March 21 – Healthy Soil & Vermiculture
March 28 – Organic Pest Management
April 4 – Gardening with Kids
April 11 – Broth Making
April 18 – Ferments I
April 25 – Ferments II

The culmination of Nourishment19 will be a “Good Food Euphorium”, a dynamic, collaborative, interactive exhibit that will showcase Augusta’s local food system. The exhibit will be open for visitors for 12 weeks in September-November 2019, with an opening day of September 4. It will engage participants of all ages in ways that educate, collect ideas, and draw a diversity of people into conversation about how we can better improve nutrition and access to fresh, wholesome foods throughout the CSRA.
