Terror Tech was formed by a group of founding members of theClubhou.se to offer an improved product for an industry continually looking to raise the stakes: haunt attractions!

1: What is the business?

Terror Tech builds automation solutions for haunted attractions

2: When and where did you found it?

January of 2015

3: What appealed to you about entrepreneurship?

The ability to take a idea in your head and see it to completion.

4: How did you get the idea?

We where contacted by a local haunted house (Plantation Blood) to automate their first and second rooms, and having to deal with what is on the market now, we decided to build our own controller to make the process easier.

5: How has your idea progressed over time?

Based on feed back from customers over the season we have started to shift to more expansion boards vs. big control units.

6: How did you find your co-founders?

We had known each other before.

7: How did you fund the business?

We had investors from inside the haunt industry that were excited about our idea and funded it.

8: How did you market your business?

Mostly though trade shows and customer word of mouth.

9: Who are your main competitors?

Fright Props

10: What have you learned from your competitors (both successes and failures)?

Success- To keep things easy and understandable.

Failures – Not keeping up with technology; which when you need to do more than just turn one thing on and off, gets complicated.

11: Best piece of advice?

Don’t be afraid to change your idea if demand needs it. Don’t get so emotionally involved in your idea that you can’t change with the market. Remember you are building things for others not only for yourself.

12: Common misconceptions about your business/entrepreneurship in general?

That it happens fast or over night. It’s a marathon not a sprint.

13: What is next for your business?

Moving into other automation markets and theater show control

14: How has/will working out of theClubhou.se benefitted your company?

In networking and meeting the co-founders of the company.

Located in a historic 1802 Schoolhouse, our space is divided into two wings. One for learning and prototyping, and one for coworking and business incubation. Our membership comes from a wide variety of backgrounds that all consider themselves some measure of hacker, maker, and doer. I am an architect. We have entrepreneurs, business people, teachers, engineers, designers, artists, and Jacks and Jill’s of all trades, and of course many software and hardware developers.
