Ian Bridgeforth has skills in marketing and advertising. He works out of a few days a week, utilizing the space for meeting with clients and co-working. Meet Ian!

1: How did you come to be a member of

While living in New York, there were a lot of co-working spaces and I saw firsthand the value they had. When I moved back to Augusta and found out there was one here, it wasn’t long before I did a tour and joined.

2: Describe the moment you decided what you wanted to do when you grew up?

I don’t know if there was a specific moment. And honestly I still don’t know exactly what I want to be for the rest of my life. But I remember a lesson I learned from the movie Beverly Hills Cop. Not to get too much into the details but the overall theme was that sometimes in life you can’t just go by the rule book. Sometimes you have to go off of instinct and do unconventional things for the greater good.

3: What do you do in your current work?

I run an integrated communications and voter engagement startup for young people in Georgia. Our goal is to give young people a proper seat at the table of democracy. We do this through student leadership development, voter engagement, and highlighting the issues that affect to young people.

4: What is an expertise you have that you would like to share with others?

I would say how to effectively work in digital advertising and targeting. For instance, there are many ways to utilize Facebook’s advertising products. Some effective, some not so effective. Helping people understand and utilize the power of that platform is something I’d be happy to do.

5: What are you tinkering with at the moment?

Facebook’s mobile ad platform, specifically Canvas.

6: What are you interested in learning?

I’m interested in learning about innovation in the nonprofit space and what specifically drives that innovation.

7: What is your favorite sci-fi movie?

I don’t have a specific movie, but Continuum was a great series on the Sci-Fi channel. All 4 seasons are now on Netflix if you want to check it out.

8: If you have not lived all of your life in Augusta, where else have you lived?

I’ve lived in Milledgeville, GA, Atlanta, GA, and New York City.

9: If you could see one thing happen in Augusta in the next 5 – 10 years, what would it be?

I think I would like to see an Augusta that’s not just known for the Master’s. An Augusta that’s known for the all of the events, historical sites, opportunities, and talent that all of us who live here see every day, but isn’t known to many outside of the area.

10: Core Values are: Risk Boldly, Honor Your Commitments, Be Worthy of Trust, Give More Than You Take, and Share Solutions. Which core value do you best exemplify and why?

Give More Than You Take. In a world that’s becoming much more transactional and impatient, I want to invest in people, ideas, and things with the understanding that I may not see the results in my life time but in the end will leave the world better than when I came into it.

Located in a historic 1802 Schoolhouse, our space is divided into two wings. One for learning and prototyping, and one for coworking and business incubation. Our membership comes from a wide variety of backgrounds that all consider themselves some measure of hacker, maker, and doer. I am an architect. We have entrepreneurs, business people, teachers, engineers, designers, artists, and Jacks and Jill’s of all trades, and of course many software and hardware developers.
