Learn the basic techniques of stencil art with local folk-pop artist James Schroeder and have the opportunity to try different mediums.

Time: This is a full-day workshop! 10-4pm with an hour lunch break together
First Block: 10-12 – Focused on stencil making and cutting
Second Block: 12- 1pm – One Hour break for group lunch to discuss projects and techniques
Third Block: 1-4 – Painting your stencils!

In this 4 hour course (1-hour break for group lunch) James will teach the basic techniques of stencil art. This workshop will cover differentiating between positive and negative space, how to cut stencils from various materials, how to layer stencils and paint to create a multifaceted design, the basics of creating letters and shapes, and of course how to use spray paint to transfer your designs onto material.
Each student will be provided and have access to the materials and tools needed create stenciled posters and greeting/holiday cards to take home.
You may bring your own preprinted stencil images (high contrast & black and white) and material if you wish.
